Elizabeth Jane [Wall] Rochette. 85, formerly of Castalia, passed peacefully into eternity Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, in St. Vincent'sHospital, Indianapolis.

Born Elizabeth Jane Wall, Nov. 7, 1923, on the South Side of Chicago, she was the eldest daughter of Genevieve Murphy and James Wall. On August 14, 1943, she married John Joseph Rochette of Meriden, Conn., and, like many women of her youth, worked in service and business venues in her hometown of Chicago, while her husband served in the Pacific arena during the Second World War. Post-war, she and John relocated to Castalia and lived at "Seven Pines," while John worked at the newly opened New Departure branch of General Motors. While living in Castalia, she gave birth to Sharon Ann and Susan Marie Rochette. Soon after, they established their home in Bellevue, where she gave birth to both Patricia Lynn and Elizabeth Ann.

She was a member of Castalia Lions Club Auxiliary, Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky, and, recently, The Red Hat Society of the Hoosier Village Retirement Center, Indianapolis, where she served as treasurer and the "official"photographer. She loved attending social events, luncheons, andconcerts sponsored by theretirement center.

She will be missed very much by all of us who loved her. She was a very generous and kind person.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan, Patricia and Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Nathaniel, Patrick and Madison,; sister, Geraldine [Wall Murphy] Friedheim, of Burr Ridge, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Dori and Elsie Rochette, of Meriden, Conn.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Joseph; daughter, Sharon Ann; parents, Genevieve and James; and brother, Robert Wall.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia A funeral Mass will be at10 a.m. Friday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky; the Rev. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Burial will be inCalvary Cemetery.
