Jean L. Miller, 62, of Castalia, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
Jean was born May 22, 1946, in Sandusky. She was employed by the State of Ohio Division of Liquor Control for 19 years.
She was an active member and past president of the Erie County Master Gardener’s Association, Ohio Bird Watchers, and the Ohio Democratic Party. Jean found joy and peace while working in her gardens, oil painting, bird watching and photography. She was a life-long boater and enjoyed traveling in their RV with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Miller of Castalia; son, Michael (Lori) Smith, and daughter, Mary (Brett) Fuqua, all of Sandusky; stepson, Jerry Miller of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter, Jessica Smith; grandsons, Brett and Brock Fuqua; brothers, Dale (Rhonda) Hartley, Roger (Patricia) Hartley and Greg Hartley, all of Sandusky; and best friend, Rennie Funni of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Verna (Felske) Hartley; and granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Smith, in infancy.
At Jean’s request cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends 6-9 p.m. Thursday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
