Elaine I. Fischer, 81, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 17, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
She was born June 5, 1927, in Sandusky, and was a 1945 graduate of Sandusky High School. Elaine was a loving mother to her children, devoted wife to her husband and truly a dedicated grandmother to her grandchildren, for she wanted to be a part of all memorable moments in their lives, even her family in the Northwest. She enjoyed boating and fishing, but she mostly loved being with her husband for they were worldly travelers having traveled to the various continents around the world. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had been active in the Democratic Women of Erie County and YMCA Senior Women.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert E. Fischer, married Nov. 27, 1948; family, Stanley Fischer of Sandusky, Stephen (Lori) Fischer of Chehalis, Wash., Dave (Lorraine) Fischer of Milwaukie, Ore., Donald A. Fischer of Sandusky and Roberta (Tom) Brady of Huron; and five grandchildren, Allison, Hillary, Micah, Sean, and Alexis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Eunice (Camper) Wobser; and granddaughter, Julie Marie Fischer.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Philip Feltman will officiate. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
