Richard Myers Funk, 87, formerly of Jeromesville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, in Hospice of North Central Ohio.
He was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Jeromesville, the son of Paul Z. and Edna Myers Funk. He spent most of his life in the Jeromesville area. He was a member of Co. K 3rd Infantry Ohio State Guard during World War II. He was a well known mason contractor, first with his father and then with his brothers.
He was a member of Jeromesville Methodist Church. He was a founding member of the Jeromesville Lions Club, volunteered for the Jeromesville Fire Department, was a life member of Elks Lodge 1360 and a 45-year member of Eagles 2178.
Mr. Funk enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and sports.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen M. (Morckel) Funk; son, Brent P. (Jennifer) Funk of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Jordan and Max; and brother, Bob Funk of Jeromesville.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, David L Funk; parents; infant sister; brothers, Willard Funk and Don Funk; and sisters, Alene Aber and Rosalie Franks.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday in Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home; the Rev. Paul Atkinson will officiate. Burial will be in Jeromesville Cemetery.
