Albennie ‘MoMo’ (McCarty) Richey, 94, of Sandusky, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, in Providence Care Center in Sandusky.
She was born May 14, 1914, in Waynesboro, Miss. and lived in Sandusky for 61 years.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Sandusky, where she served on the Mothers Board and as a Deaconess. She worked at Memorial Hospital in Sandusky in the housekeeping department, retiring after 25 years of service.
She enjoyed cooking and going fishing.
Albennie will be sadly missed by her daughter, Marie Johnson of Sandusky; stepdaughter, Ann Taylor of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Issac McCarty Jr. of Steward, Fla., Willie B. McCarty of Sandusky and Samuel (Classie) McCarty of Sandusky; sisters, Nettie (Claude) Mercair of Chicago, Ozella Grant of Sandusky and Margerie (Frazier) Warshom of Waynesboro, Miss.; 27 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Richey; son, Milton Richey; daughter, Barbara Puse; stepson, Preston Richey; parents, Issac and Nettie (Gaines) McCarty; sisters, Hazel Sumlin, Lucille Matthews, Penni Mae McCarty, Emma Teddar, Pinkie McGrew, and Eriene Morgan; brothers, David McCarty and Wiley McCarty; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the church; the Rev. Samuel Mickles, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Sandusky. Arrangements entrusted to Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, Lorain.
