Thomas J. Hartnett, 69, of Norwalk, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, in Stein Hospice, Sandusky.
He was born Jan. 24, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio, son of the late Daniel G. and Alma J. (Mitten) Hartnett. He lived most of his life in the Norwalk and Sandusky areas. He was a 1957 graduate of Toledo Central Catholic High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a self-employed handyman and was an avid Notre Dame college football fan.
He is survived by his son, Daniel (Tracy) Hartnett; and daughter, Kathleen (Jeff ) Kerber, all of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Kerber, and Amanda and Michael Hartnett; brother, Dr. Daniel G. (Mary) Hartnett of Sylvania, Ohio; and sister, Suzanne M. Wehinger of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, James ‘Bill’ Hartnett.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday until service at 11 a.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk; the Rev. Frances Speier, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk, will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
