Marilyn Ann (McGory) Poggiali, 78, of Sandusky died unexpectedly Friday morning, Oct. 10, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Sandusky and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1948. She worked at Philco and Steineman Insurance Agency. She also spent many years working as a poll worker for Erie County Board of Elections. Alife-long Sandusky resident,Marilyn enjoyed all that the city had to offer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church,Sandusky.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and amazing mother. Her family was always her top priority. She was also an avid sports fan; Marilyn loved her Sandusky Blue Streaks, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.
Her hobbies included gardening, painting, reading and taking care of all the neighborhood wildlife. Marilyn was passionate about the humane treatment of all living creatures.
She is survived by six children, sons, Dan (Elizabeth), Stephen (Deborah), and Brian (Sally) Poggiali, all of Sandusky; daughters, Susan (Charles) Teagarden of Sandusky, Ann (Doug) Metz of Worthington, Ohio, and Beth (Brad) Wimmer of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer and Lucas Poggiali, Rebecca and Meridith Teagarden, Adam, Katie and Dylan Metz, and Lauren, Grace and Clay Wimmer; brother, Tom McGory; sister, Suzanne Preston; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Poggiali, in 2004; father, Walter McGory; mother, Florence Lorenzen; and step-father, Vincent Lorenzen.
A private family memorial service will be observed at a later date. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
