BAY VILLAGE, Ohio
James A. MacMillan, 84, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, and Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in Bay Village, Ohio.
He was the son of the late Albert F. and Esther P. MacMillan. A 1945 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in metallurgical engineering, he was employed by U.S. Steel for 34 years. He was a long-time member of First Congregational, United Church of Christ in Lorain, and served as a trustee for First Presbyterian Church in Sandusky. An amateur radio operator (W8ZEQ) for 65 years, he was also active in his two loves, golfing and fishing.
He is survived by his son, James D. (Gail) MacMillan of Rocky River, Ohio; daughters, Jane (Kenneth) Eberly of Troy, Ohio, and Deborah (William) Munas of Dayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Todd MacMillan, Ryan and Erin Eberly, and Brian and Eric Munas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Elizabeth Waterhouse MacMillan.
Mr. MacMillan requested that his remains be donated to Case Western Reserve University Medical School.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson St., Sandusky, until the memorial service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
