Daniel T. Adams, 59, of Ft. Myers, Fla., and formerly Sandusky, died Oct. 7, 2008, in Ft. Myers following a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Sandusky. He was a 1968 graduate of Sandusky High School. Dan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, Special Forces, 101st Airborne and 82nd Rangers in Vietnam, and was distinguished by receiving both the Medal of Honor and Medal of Valor.

Dan was a third degree black belt in martial arts and loved sharing his knowledge as a teacher. He was an honored sensi (teacher) and was proud to have been voted teacher of the year. Dan loved martial arts and continued his studies during his lifetime, specializing in weapons of swords and Buski Kan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Becky (Martin) Adams of Ft. Myers; his beautiful daughters, Danielle Adams and Dana Adams; proud grandfather to Devan, 14, Dustin, 3, and Jaydin, 18 months; brothers, John C. (Kathy) Adams of Toledo, Ohio, and Thomas (Mary Beth) Adams of Sandusky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jean Adams.

In accordance with Dan's wishes, cremation and interment will be in Ft. Myers.
