MOUNT DORA, Fla.
John H. Chamberlin, 71, of Mount Dora, Fla., died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, Mich., the son of the late John Adams and Orpha (Demlow) Chamberlin. He graduated from Cooley High School in Michigan in 1955, then attended Lawrence Institute of Technology where he graduated in June, 1960. In the spring of 1960, he started his working career with General Motors as an International Marketing Manager and worked in Michigan, St. Louis, Salt Lake City, Sandusky, then returned to Michigan where he retired in 1993. After his retirement, he worked as a consultant for Butcher Industries in Michigan for one year. He married Monica Monok on Feb. 25, 1993, and she survives.
John was a member of Mount Dora Country Club and Eustis, Fla., Elks Lodge 1578. His hobbies included golfing; he was an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Monica; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Prosser of Catawba Island; sons, John (Stephanie) Chamberlin of Thornton, Colo., and Matthew (Carole) Chamberlin of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; and first wife, Edwina (Belto), who is the mother of his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol.
Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Friday in Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, where memorial services will be at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel J. Ring, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, officiating. Additional visitation will follow the memorial service until 9 p.m.
