Marjory R. Shane, 84, of Bellevue, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in The Bellevue Hospital.
Mrs. Shane was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Bellevue, daughter of the late Adolph and Minnie (Koch) Poths. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1942. She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked at Adrea'a Beauty Shop in Norwalk. She later retired from GE in Bellevue. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellevue and later became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. She was a member of Four County Young at Heart, and enjoyed supporting her husband George's love of barbershop harmony music. She also enjoyed making eggs to hang on her trees, and was known as the Easter Egg Lady in Bellevue.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Shane, whom she married Feb. 5, 1955. Other survivors include her two nieces, JoAnne Austin and Beverly (David) Rogers of Bellevue; her brother, Karl (Vera) Poths; two great nieces, Tracy (David) Vannest and Joy (Bill) Treat; four great-nephews, Jere (Patti) Austin, Jon Austin, Steven Rogers and Michael (Cortney) Rogers; and 14 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, August and infant sister, Catherine; and two great-nieces.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Auxter Funeral Home, 1105 Castalia St., Bellevue. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue City Cemetery.
