Clarence V. Lilje, 72, a life-long resident of Sandusky, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Sandusky, Sept. 26, 1936. He was a 1954 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He worked at Sandusky Foundry and owned and operated Country Tavern and The Place Night Club. He was a member of AMVETS Post 17 in Sandusky. He enjoyed boating and fishing.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judy (Staley) Lilje; sons, Kip (Cherie) Lilje of Vermilion and Kevin Lilje of Sandusky; granddaughter, Jill Vezdos; brother, Thomas C. (Judith) Lilje of Toledo; and sister-in-law, Jean Lilje of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred C. and Myrtle V. (Schultz) Lilje;, brother, James A. Lilje; and sister-in-law, Barb Lilje.
Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home; the Rev. Robert J. Machovec Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
