Robert L. Ross, 83, of Norwalk and formerly Milan, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Detroit, son of the late William T. and Helen M. (Bray) Ross. He was raised in Cleveland and came to Erie County in 1957. He was a member of Edison Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan and was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine. He was a member of Milan Legion Post 527, 40 Et 8, Milan Lions Club, Buckeye Mariners, AMVETS, Firelands Society of the Blind, The American License Plate Collectors Club, and Firelands Coin Club. He was an avid collector of stamps, beer cans, casino coins and McDonald’s toys.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ethelyn S. (Ward) Ross of Norwalk; sister, Betsy Marie Orsi of Palm Springs, Calif;. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur and William; and sisters, Dorothy Stupka, Arlene Mae Prosser and Margaret June Ross.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
