June K. (Pfefferkorn) Olson, 88, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Sandusky and was a lifelong resident.
June, and her late husband, Reed, worked for many years before they became part-owners of Pfefferkorn Awning in Sandusky until the late 1980s. June was active in the community, First Faith Community Church, Business Women’s Club of Sandusky, Sandusky Senior Center, and was an avid supporter of Firelands Symphony Orchestra.
Survivors include her two daughters, Karen S. Ortiz-Garzaran of San Diego and Cheryle J. Olson of Sandusky; three grandchildren, David R. Steuk of Seattle, Stephen L. Ortiz-Garzaran, Christopher R. Ortiz-Garzaran of Phoenix; four great-grandchildren, Garret, Emily, Ian and Caleb; sister, Barbara A. Nielsen of Sandusky; and nephews, Chris Pfefferkorn, James Browne, Thomas Browne, Robert Nielsen and Richard Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed D. Olson; parents, Willard C. and Lulu L. (Smith) Pfefferkorn; brother, Willard F. Pfefferkorn; and sister, Mary Margaret Browne.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Pfeil Funeral Home, 617 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky; the Rev. Ernie Matijasic officiating. Burial will be in Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.
