Marguerite Eileen Setchel, 83, a resident of the Norwalk Memorial Home and formerly of Bellevue, passed away Wed., Sept. 24, 2008, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk, after a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Thompson Township, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest R. and Ethel E. (Wolf) Zechman. Marguerite was a 1942 graduate of the former Thompson High School. She married Harlan E. Setchel Oct. 23, 1955, in Bellevue, and he preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1984.
Marguerite was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bellevue and was very active in her church, having been a member of the chancel choir and United Methodist Women.
She was a member of Four County Young at Heart Senior Center; Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490 Auxiliary; Club Amer-Ital; Thompson High School Alumni; Bellevue Lamp Plant Alumni. She was a volunteer in The Bellevue Hospital gift shop.
She was employed at the former General Electric Bellevue Lamp Plant for 38 years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed traveling around the country, bingo, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ellie (Darrell) Sigsworth of Norwalk and Nancy (Herb) Goss of Altus, Okla.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Aaron and Herb III Goss; and a great-grandson, Mason Goss.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and three brothers, Cyril, Gaylord, and Floyd Zechman.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, 901 Northwest St., Bellevue, and from 10 a.m. Saturday until funeral services at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jane-Ann Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
