Erma J. Nesbitt, 65, of Chillicothe, Ohio, gave up the ghost and went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, in Adena Regional Medical Center.
Erma was born in Akron, Ohio, a gift from the union of Ulice and Clementine Wright Sherman, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Willard High School class of 1962. She retired from Ross Correctional Institute in 2002 where she worked as a food service coordinator. She relocated to Chillicothe from Sandusky
Erma was a faithful member of Original Glorious Church of God in Christ. In Sandusky, she was a faithful member of Victory Christian Center, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Jones, where she served on the hospitality committee, usher board and as a missionary.
Erma was a loving wife to her husband of 45 years, Elder Willie E. Nesbitt, Chillicothe, who survives. She was the proud mother of three children who survive, Michelle Alexander of Sandusky, and S. Rene (Anthony) King and Torrance (Chasity) Nesbitt, both of Chillicothe; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; sister, Carolyn (Bernard) Norton, Clinton, Md.; two brothers, Ulice Sherman, Detroit, and Duane (Arcine) Poole, Ft. Washington, Md.; special aunt, Claira Durham of Willard; special cousin, Essie Brown of Sandusky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; step-father, Arthur Poole; sister, Clementine Alexander; and brother, Cleopatrick Sherman.
She always said, "God made us family, love made us friends."
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday in Haller Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in Original Glorious Church of God in Christ; Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
