Robert L. Wright, 78, of Sandusky, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, 2008, in Great Lakes Transitional Care Center following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Canton, Ohio. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was employed with Ford Motor Co. for 36 years and Eastern States Farmer Exchange for 16 years.
Mr. Wright was a past member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a life member of American Legion Post 83, AMVETS Post 17, and VFW Post 2529. He enjoyed gardening and doing miscellaneous jobs around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Fachman) Wright, whom he married May 26, 1956; son, Lawrence R. Wright of Sandusky; grandson, Dustin C. Wright; and sister, Mardell of Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence R. and Hilda M. (Longyear) Wright.
Friends will be received 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday; Deacon Jeff Claar of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Rev. Darrell Gant of Stein Hospice will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
