Andrew ‘Drew’ Hammond, 19, of Huron, died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, 2008.
He was born Nov. 30, 1988, in Norwalk, and was a graduate of Huron High School. He was a phenomenal linebacker and was SBC All-Conference. Last year he played in the SBC-SLL All-Star game in Oak Harbor with players from all over the state. He was a student at BGSU Firelands campus, planning a career in sports management. He excelled in weightlifting and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Allen of Milan; father, Joseph Hammond and girlfriend, Christina Myers of Huron; stepfather, Robert Allen of Milan; three sisters, Andrea Hammond, Asia Hammond and Jada Allen, all of Milan; brother, Jonathan Allen of Milan; maternal grandmother, Linda McNally of Sandusky; maternal grandfather, Richard (Terri) Schwenn of Norwalk; paternal grandparents, William and Ann Hammond of Huron; very special uncle who he lived with for several years, James Schwenn; best friend and cousin, Michael Hansen; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, John Hammond; cousin, Roch Hammond Jr.; and stepgrandfather, Thomas McNally.
Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Private graveside services will be in Scott Cemetery.
