Edward M. "Butch" Mittower, 62, of 11557 East County Road 24, Republic, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Bellevue, son of the late Thurman M. and Bernice E. (Bower) Mittower. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Lou (Reinhart) Mittower, whom he married Sept. 7, 1968, in Reed Assumption Catholic Church.
Ed was employed at Armstrong Air in Bellevue until its closing in November 2006 where he had devoted 35 years to the company. He was a member of the Bellevue Eagles Aerie 490. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, restoring old Farmall Tractors, and fixing anything his grandchildren broke. He was a devoted husband, loving and caring father, and outstanding grandfather. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was always there when you needed him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Jeff) Reichert of Bellevue and Holly Mittower of Attica; grandchildren, Paige and Cade Reichert of Bellevue; his sister-in-law, Rosie (Ed) Bartl of Bellevue; his half brother, Calvin (Marge) Mittower of Clyde; and two half-sisters, Marge (Carl) Wohlfarth of Toledo, and Arlene Sellers of Danville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church. Burial will follow in Reed Assumption Cemetery.
