Gerard C. Brown, 73, of Lakeside, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, in Fireland’s Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Brown was born Dec. 6, 1934, to Benjamin G. and Leona G. (Perry) Brown. He served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. He worked at the former Sandusky Foundry & Machine Company for 33 years. Gerard owned and operated several local bar and restaurant establishments through the years.
He attended St. Mary’s Church in Sandusky. He was a member of Port Clinton VFW Post 2480, Sandusky American Legion Post 83, Sandusky VFW Post 2529 and Port Clinton Eagles Aerie 2295. He enjoyed collecting miniature classic cars and was an avid sports fan. Gerard also loved boating, fishing and being outdoors.
Gerard is survived by his companion, Sandy Beckwith of Cleveland; stepson, Vince (Jenny) Parker of Indianapolis; stepgrandchildren, Josh, Amanda and Noah Parker; brother, James (Maryanne) Brown of Lakewood, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Pepper.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Brown; and sister, Marlene Grathwol.
Visitation will take place 4-8 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home; Deacon Jeff Claar officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
