Merle Ray Finch, 61, of Sandusky, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born March 18, 1947, in New London and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed as a truck driver for Aero Bulk Carriers in Detroit. He was a member of the American Legion in Fitchville; belonged to the Masonic Lodge; and loved camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Betty (Harold) Wright of Sandusky, John (Elaine) Finch of Monroeville, and Jim (Emily) Finch and Debby (Cliff) Jones of Ashland, Ohio; grandson, Donald Andrew Finch of New London; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Merle Finch; daughter, Gladys Jean Finch; his parents, Delbert and Gladys (O'Connor) Finch; and an aunt and uncle.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. Wednesday until a memorial services at 4 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Patrick Rohen will officiate. American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, will provide a military tribute following the service.
