Elaine J. Knutson, 91, Sandusky, died early Friday morning, Sept. 12, 2008, in Stein Hospice Center, following a brief illness.
She was born in Big Stone City, S.D., Aug. 29, 1917. She retired from W.T. Grant Retail Store and also worked for Woolworth. She enjoyed her flower gardens, reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Marlys Crum; sons, Richard Arlan (Chris) Knutson of Portland, Tenn., and Eugene David (Elizabeth) Knutson of Lebanon, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter E. Knutson in 1993; son, Walter E. Knutson Jr.; parents, Robert G. and Laura (Fischer) Armstrong; and brother, Cloyd D. Armstrong.
Private family services were conducted at Meadow Green Memorial Park; Pastor Bob Machovec, Trinity United Methodist Church, officiated. Burial followed in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
