Marian L. Zakerski

Marian L. Zakerski, 76, of Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, in Stein Hospice Center, following an 18-year battle with Alzheimer's.
Mrs. Zakerski was born in Detroit, May 8, 1932, to William and Agnes (Laughlan) Norrie. She married her husband, Gerald Zakerski, on Feb. 28, 1961, and he survives.
Marian worked at Fanny Farmers manufacturing plant, Norwalk, for more than 25 years. She was a proud union steward through the Fanny Farmer Company. She enjoyed ceramics, golfing, bowling and raising German Shepherd pups. Marian loved spending time with Gerald at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Mrs. Zakerski is survived by her husband, Gerald Zakerski of Norwalk; daughter, Cheryl (Randy) Taylor of Huron; son, Mark (Kelly) Zakerski of Milan; grandchildren, Shelly (James) Stone of Nevada, Erica (Casey) Proy of Berlin Heights, Jennifer (Thad) Wilkins of Texas, and Michael and Lindsay Zakerski of Milan; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Agnes Gersell of Saginaw, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes Norrie; and her brother, William Norrie.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, Milan Chapel, One S. Main St., Milan. Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home; the Rev. Patrick Rohen will officiate.
