William E. ‘Casey’ Rupp, 84, of Norwalk, died Monday evening, Sept. 8, 2008, in Huron Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Norwalk, was a 1942 graduate of St. Paul High School and 1949 graduate of Bowling Green State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-45 during World War II, and received the Purple Heart and combat infantry badge. He was an accountant, office manager and corporate treasurer for the former A.J. Baltes Inc. for 27 years, Paul E. Bleile Co. for four years, and Lake Erie Construction for seven years.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 626 in Norwalk and life member of VFW Post 2743 and DAV. He volunteered at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, as a driver for Meals on Wheels, St. Paul Booster member, and the church’s heavenly dusters and its adoration chapel.
He is survived by his children, Patricia A. Cook of Norwalk, William E. (Karen) Rupp II of Lorain, Ohio, and Mark (Cathy) Rupp of Norwalk; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas C. Rupp; sister, Patricia A. (Jim) Westerhold; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude A. (Roth) Rupp in 1999; siblings, The Rev. Elmer V. Rupp, Richard E. Rupp, Winifred H. Rupp, John P. Rupp Jr., Hope Mary Rupp, James B. Rupp, Ruth A. Rupp and Rita M. Strader.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-9 Friday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Paul Cemetery.
