Norma Jean Gast, 64, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away late Monday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2008, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio, after a 10-month battle with cancer.
She was born in Sycamore, Ohio, Dec. 24, 1943, and graduated with honors from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She was a big sports fan and was quite active playing tennis, golf and bowling, and received many team league championship awards with her husband, Terry, throughout the years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlework and gardening, but truly loved tending to and caring for her flowers.
She worked for Medical College of Ohio, as a computer consultant for Johnson & Johnson for several years, and later for Owens Corning.
She is survived by her husband, Terrence L. “Terry” Gast, whom she married Aug. 27, 1977; her pet parrot, Norman, who will miss her dearly; brother, Neil (Joann) Dininger of Sycamore, Ohio; sister, Joyce (Bill) Linn of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Fern Dininger.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday in the David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
