Helen Ruth (Englert) Linder, 91, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in Lutheran Village in Ashland, Ohio.
She was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Norwalk, daughter of the late Eugene and Olive (Reister) Englert. She was a 1934 graduate of St. Paul High School and a member of its Alumni Association. She worked at the former Foos Paint and Appliance in Norwalk, and was former precinct chairman for the Huron County Democratic Party.
Helen was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, former president and officer for the Altar and Rosary Society, Eucharistic minister and was active in the church choir and funeral choir for many years. She was a past elementary CCD teacher, and had been a library volunteer at St. Paul School.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia E. (Thomas Miles) Linder, Ph.D., of Rockwell, Texas; sons, Paul (Joanie) Linder of Columbus, Joseph (Lana) Linder of Ashland, and William (Susan) Linder of Clarkston, Mich.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Clara M. Weisenberger of Norwalk; son-in-law, Irven F. Hintz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Linder, in 1996; daughter, Jeanette Hintz; sisters, Mary C. Englert and Josephine (in infancy); and brothers, Joseph, Paul and Norbert Englert.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
