ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.
Carl Hallo, 76, passed away at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine, Fla., Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Castalia and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950, where he was a star football player and made All-Ohio in his senior year. He attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, on a football scholarship.
Carl served in the U.S. Army for two years and played football against Japan. Upon his return home, he played for a year at Bowling Green University. He was inducted into the Sandusky High School Hall of Fame in 1994.
Carl worked in the car business for 45 years, many of those years in South Florida, the last 10 in Saint Augustine with Parker Cadillac and Atlantic Dodge. He retired in 2002. He enjoyed spending most of his spare time with his children and grandchildren, attending various activities and sporting events.
Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Mary Ann Roeder. They moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Ohio in 1961 and eventually to Saint Augustine.
Survivors include his four daughters, Tamara (Johan) Boshart and Theresa (David) Mitchell, both of Saint Augustine, Traci (Ken) Voisine of Mariaville, Maine, and Trisha Plummer of Delray Beach, Fla.; son, Trevor Carl Hallo of Saint Augustine; and 15 wonderful grandchildren, 12 boys and three girls.
Carl was a wonderful, hardworking, generous man who possessed a great sense of humor. He was loved by all and will be missed dearly. He will always be in our hearts.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday in Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine. Funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m.
