Jack F. Schafer, 66, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Helena, Mont., after a brief illness.
He was born July 9, 1942, in his home in Milan, son of the late Clyde F. and Alice Marie (Bower) Schafer and was a lifelong area resident. He was a member of Harley Owners Group (HOG), a lifetime member Huron/Erie County Pool League, Norwalk Eagles Aeria 711 and the NRA. He was an avid hunter and loved to go out west to hunt bear and mountain goats.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was the business manager for 15 years at Lasch Furniture, Monroeville, and the owner of Bentley Furniture in Wayne, Ohio, for 18 years, retiring in 2008. He was a volunteer fireman for the Monroeville Fire Dept. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanya (Mike Simmons) Fester of Kirkland, Ohio; by his son-in-law Ken (Cindy) Fester of Monroeville; his sister, Linda (Beuford) Wilson of Cadiz, Ky.; his step father, Elmer Farley of Willoughby, Ohio; his close friend, Debra Mason of Helena; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Schafer, in 2004.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Thursday until services at 3 p.m. in Walker funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Margaret D'Anieri, pastor of St. Paul Episcopal Church, will officiate.
