Bernice J. Hopkins, 82, of Sandusky, passed away from complications associated with surgery and renal failure, Sunday evening, Aug. 17, 2008, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Bernice Jean Vance on April 26, 1926, and lived her entire life in Sandusky. She was a devoted member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, East Congregation, Sandusky.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Anthony Hopkins and Edward French of California; her sisters, Ilah Lewis and Margarite Jennings of Los Angeles; as well as granddaughters, Andrea Marjani French and Camille Ysaye French of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jesse T. Hopkins, June 1, 2008; parents, William and Marie (Wilburn) Vance; and sisters, Rosanna and Elaine Vance.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 3 p.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 5 p.m.. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Russell Gelhar will officiate. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
