Deborah A. Alexander Lanier, 59, Sandusky, departed this life, Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, inProvidence Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 28, 1949, in Sandusky, and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1967.
Deborah worked for J.C. Penney in advertising, and then followed her dreams of being a nurse and graduated from Providence School of Nursing and was employed by the former Providence Hospital and theOhio Veterans Home.
She was a member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Church, where she was YPD supervisor. A fun-loving inspiring mother, grandmother and sister, she was a pillar of strength to those who knew her. Spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting, sewing and cooking where very special to her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Amy Lanier of Sandusky; grandchildren, De'Vonte, Derek, DeJae, DeAreia, Dekotah, Deyton, DeMeah, Shanniah and Shianne; sisters, the Rev. Barbara (Ted) Huston, Linda and Karen Alexander, all of Sandusky, and Beverly Wiley of Mississippi; brothers, Donald Alexander of Texas, Dennis (Janice) Alexander, Richard "Chico" Alexander Sr. and Ray "Tony" (Lynne) Alexander, all of Sandusky, and Kevin (Julia) Alexander of Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethie and Louise (Patterson) Alexander; maternal grandparents, Finis and Ethel Jones; paternal grandparents, Robert and Pearl Alexander; and niece, Ashley Brown.
Friends may call 7-9 Tuesday in Toft Funeral Home &Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave.,Sandusky.
Funeral services will be at1 p.m. Wednesday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky, with her sister, the Rev. Barbara Huston, and the Rev. Paul Bupe officiating. Burial will be inOakland Cemetery.
