William Donald ‘Bill’ Manring

William Donald “Bill” Manring, 88, of Byer, Ohio, and a former resident of Sandusky, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008, in Four Winds Nursing Facility.
He was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Jackson County, Ohio, son of the late William Manring and Anise Short Manring. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Bill was a former employee of D.T. & I. car shops. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Coppock of Jackson, Ohio, and Pamela DeBord of Coalton, Ohio; sons, Donald Manring of Sandusky and Vaughn Manring of Coalton; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Manring; his former wife, Ramona Gentry Manring Vernon; three infant children; infant granddaughter; great-grandson, Brandon Coppock; brothers, Warren Manring and Reulah Manring; and sisters, Sarah Theaumont, Pauline Mitchell, Edna Claypool, Sylvia Martindale, Verna Manring, Lulah Knox and Ruth Ware.
Calling hours will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday in McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston, Ohio. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Rob Ervin officiating. Burial will be in the Byer Cemetery with military graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
