Daniel R. “Dan” Alley, 42, of Clyde, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday evening, Aug. 7, 2008, in The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1965, the son of Lewis and Avanelle (Gilmore) Alley, in Sandusky. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1984 and attended Toledo University. Daniel served in the Ohio National Guard and owned and operated A and A Seal Coat for several years. He enjoyed reading, music, bike riding, arguing politics and playing violin and saxophone. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of more than 20 years, Kimmi A. “Kim” Smith; son, Daniel R. Alley III of Clyde; parents; two brothers, Mark and Lewis “Scott” Alley, both of Clyde; sister, Libby (John) Brinson of Pickerington, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; three stepsons, Jeff (Heather) Smith, Bryon and Keith Gowitzka; and two step-grandchildren, Jaren and Abigail.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Melinda “Sissy” Alley; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home; the Rev. John King will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, at a later date.
