Dale "Skip" Weyer Jr., 52, of Castalia, died Wednesday night, Aug. 6, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 8, 1956, in Sandusky, and was a 1975 graduate of Margaretta High School. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky.
Dale started employment at Industrial Nut Corp. on Sept. 5, 1978. He became active as a union officer in January, 1980. During his union career, he occupied the office of trustee and served on the shop bargaining committee, which he chaired for many years. He was most recently served as president of the United Steel Workers Local 1-00211.
He is survived by his parents, Dale and Betty (Hartley) Weyer Sr. of Monroeville; two brothers, Timothy "Diane" Weyer and Charles "Rhonda" Weyer, both of Castalia; one sister of Collins; and several nieces, nephews, and cats.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Milton and Marie Weyer; and his maternal grandparents, Wilson and Emily Hartley.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1605 W. Jefferson St., Sandusky; the Rev. Chris Kardzis will officiate. Entombment will be in Castalia Cemetery.
