Mertyce C. Brantner, 86, of Huron, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness.
She was born June 3, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wis., daughter of the late Fred and Minnie (Genskow) Schwartz. Mrs. Brantner was a homemaker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for more than 40 years and was involved with the quilting group, Shepherds Committee, and Mary Martha Circle. She also volunteered at Lutheran Memorial Home. Mrs. Brantner enjoyed spending time with her family and was a faithful and loving friend to everyone she met.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Crahen of Olmsted Township, Ohio; two grandchildren, Cody Crahen and Rachel Gansert; sister, Normie Swann of Milwaukee; nieces, Sue Hoffman, April Liggit and Jody Swann; and nephew, Jim Swann.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan C. Brantner in 1992; son, Mark Brantner in 1996; parents; and brother, Fred Schwartz Jr.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main St., Huron; Pastor Raymond Vance will officiate. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery, Huron Township, Ohio.
