John Henry (Hank) Ropers, 93, of Danbury Twp., loving and beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Magruder Hospital.
Born Sept. 30, 1914, in Danbury Township. Hank was a 1932 graduate of Danbury High School and a life-long farmer who ran Ropers Orchards with his brother Allen, who preceded him in death in 1985. Hank also worked part time as a surveyor during winter months. Hank enjoyed taking road trips, was an avid woodworker and took pleasure in winemaking, pinochle and crossword puzzles. His unfailing good cheer and humor, no matter the circumstance, made him a pleasure to be around. He was a member of the Ottawa County Farm Bureau and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce, and son, Ron, both of Danbury Twp.; and daughter, Janet (Jim) McDonough, and grandsons, Max and Brett, all of Randolph, N.J.
At Hank’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until memorial services at 11 a.m. at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Marblehead, with Pastor Chris Young of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
