Helen J. Orwig, 90, of Bellevue, passed away in Bellevue Care Center, Wednesday, July 30, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
Helen was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Bellevue, the daughter of Louis and Annie (Kraft) Dymond. She was a 1935 graduate of the former York High School and attended Bowling Green College. She married Willard Orwig, April 23, 1937, in Seybert United Methodist Church in Bellevue; he preceded her in death, Feb. 2, 2006.
Helen was a member of Seybert United Methodist Church for many years and served on the Church Communion Committee. She was a member of Pi Phi Class and she started a Larkin Club. Helen worked on the Elections Board, was a member of York Circle, and retired as an employee of The J. C. Penney Co. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, drawing and doing all types of crafts; she was an accomplished artist.
Survivors include her son, John W. (Dora) Orwig of Shawnee Hills, Ohio; four grandchildren, Clark (Kim) Orwig, Lauri (John) Sinclair, Wade Orwig and Heather Orwig; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Alice Bebee, Marion, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, David Orwig (May 3, 2006) and twin sons, Ronald and Renald Orwig; and her parents.
Calling hours will be observed 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Seybert United Methodist Church, Bellevue. Pastor Bruce Kent will officiate. Burial will follow in York Chapel Cemetery.
