Colleen H. Burton, 99, of Sandusky, died late Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 7, 1909, in Attica, Ohio, the daughter of Harley A. and Blanch Emma (Dersham) Klink. She retired from Norfolk Southern as chief clerk and private secretary after 36 years of employment. Colleen was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, where she volunteered at its Thrift Shop, while also giving her time at Firelands Hospital. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Her daughters, Shirley (Rollin) Schwanger of Sandusky and Nancy Chapman of Huron; one granddaughter, Cynthia Dunn; five grandsons, Tom Schwanger and Robert, Todd, Scott and James Chapman; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives survive her.
Her parents, Harley A. Klink and Blanch E. Deninger; stepfather, Leo Deninger; and sister, Joyce Smith, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park. The Rev. Earnest G. Matijasic will officiate. Groff Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
