Wilbur O. “Bill” Missler, 81, of Norwalk, died Sunday evening, July 15, 2012, in the University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Bismark, Ohio, to the late Otto and Loretta (Marshall) Missler, and was a lifelong area resident.
Bill was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 18. Bill was the former president and partner of Missler-Gibson Contracting, Inc. of Norwalk.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-children. Bill also enjoyed investing, was a naturalist, and enjoyed being outdoors.
He is survived by his children, Craig W. Missler of Norwalk, Wanda and Mike Finch of Norwalk, Loretta “Lori” and David Chaffee of Milan, and Ann and Larry Johnston of Norwalk; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Shirley Missler of Norwalk.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. “Ginny” (Meyers) Missler in 2006; infant son, Douglas Alan Missler in 1958; brothers, Bernard and Paul Missler; and sister, Melvina Suda.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19. Msgr. Kenneth Morman, Associate Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
