Dorothy Ann (Young) Olivares, 81, Sandusky, died Monday, July 21, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born in Clyde, May 20, 1927. She retired in 1985 from Georgia Pacific in Sandusky, after 23 years of service.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Sandusky, and served as a Sunday school teacher, and president of the Flossie Womens Circle, helped with bible school and served bereavement dinners.
Later she attended Church of the Nazarene, Sandusky, where she was active in church activities and the senior citizens group. Her favorite pleasure was taking trips to Amish Country with her sister. Dorothy enjoyed genealogy, crocheting, gardening, cooking, photography and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Larry) Graham, Springfield, Mo., Debra (Mark) Vassar, Diane Staab, Barbara (George) Johnson and Timothy (Carla) Olivares, all of Sandusky; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Ethel Mae Gilbert, Castalia; brother, Ernest Young of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Olivares in 2007; parents, Lewis Franklin and Pearl Marie (Beatty) Young; sister, Evelyn Pocock; and six brothers, Thomas Young, Fred Young, William Young, Frank Young, and John Young and James Young, both in infancy.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
Friends may also call from noon Thursday until 1 p.m. funeral services in Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 4013 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. David Flack will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
