Harold F. “Buddy” Boetticher, 86, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born Nov. 9, 1921, in Berlin Heights. He graduated from Berlin Heights High School in 1939. He worked on the family farm, Eastern States Grain Mill, Huron, Agway, Huron, and retired in 1984, as a kiln operator at Huron Lime Company.
He was a member of many area Friends of the Library groups. Harold was an avid collector, especially historical books, which he loved to read. Many people called him the “Book Man.” He enjoyed all card games, traveling and family activities.
Harold is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rita (Bauer); children, David (Lola Smith) Boetticher of Sheffield Village and Diane (James) Smith of Norwalk; beloved grandchildren, Brian Smith of Dublin, Ohio, Cheryl (Chris) Fix of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Aimee Smith of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Leona Boetticher of Norwalk and Zola Miller of Philadelphia; and special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Frederick and Emma (Staley) Boetticher; and brothers, Paul and Edwin Boetticher.
At Harold’s request, a private family committal service will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with the Rev. Jeffery Sikorski officiating. Foster Funeral Home, Huron, is handling arrangements.
