Skip Hermes, 56, of Catawba Island, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 16, 2008, while on Kelleys Island.
He was born Nov. 14, 1951, in Port Clinton, the son of Peter and Agnes (Baumann) Hermes.
Skip was the longtime manager of the Nor Easter Club on Catawba Island and was an adjunct faculty member at Terra Community College in Fremont. He was past president and a Paul Harris Fellow of Port Clinton Rotary Club. Skip enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Jane (Cassel), whom he married Oct. 16, 1998; son, Rick (Brandie) Cassel of Toledo; grandchildren, Isaac and Adam Cassel; mother, Agnes Hermes of Port Clinton; sister, Roseanne (Jeff) Langan of Chatham, Mass.; and nieces and nephews, Kelly, Caitlin and Michael Langan.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday.
