Holsey Rucker Jr., 64, of Wakeman, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Stein Hospice Center, Sandusky, after a short illness.
He was born July 12, 1944, in Oberlin Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces Division 1st Battalion Green Berets during the Vietnam War.
Holsey worked in Security and Fire Safety at Ford for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He was a police officer in Wellington, Ohio, for seven years. He enjoyed raising horses.
He is survived by his son, Stephen (Jodi) A. Rucker of Bellevue; stepsons, Terrance I. Ransom of Oakland, Calif. and John H. Ransom of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Gardner and Helen Ann Hopewell, both of Wellington, and Judy Clayton of Cleveland, Ohio; stepsister, Diane Jones of Oberlin; brothers, Arthur Rucker of Elyria, Ohio, David Rucker of Oberlin and George Rucker of Lorain, Ohio; and special friends, Diane and Jim Garner of Wakeman.
He was preceded in death by his father, Holsey Rucker Sr.; and mother, Mary Gardner.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin. The family will observe a private burial at a later date.
