John B. Williams, 71, Sandusky, died Friday, July 11, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
John was born Oct. 5, 1936, in Mobile, Ala. He moved to Sandusky with his parents. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1955-57. He then lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. until his return to Sandusky in 1991.
He was employed by the Ohio Dept. of Transportation until he retired in 2007.
John is survived by three daughters, Joan (Curtis) Horn and Debra (David) Vance, both of Sandusky, and Joanne Johnson of Bronx, N.Y.; sister, Linda Morgan of Sandusky; three brothers, Steward (Ellen) Williams, George (Margaret) Williams and Eddie (Rose) Williams, all of Sandusky; fiancée, Della Knight, Sandusky; four grandchildren, Tanya Horn, Curtis Horn Jr., Brian Horn and Jihad Martin; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Williams Sr.; mother, Ruth M. (Farris) Williams; brother, Walter Williams Jr.; and a sister in infancy.
Friends may call from noon, Friday, until funeral services at 1 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Ernest Robinson will officiate.
