Laura Mae Hoover, 56, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly Monday, July 7, 2008, in Elyria Memorial Hospital.
She was born Dec. 18, 1951, to Lloyd and Dorothy (Porter) Barcus. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1970. Laura married James Hoover in 1985, and he survives.
Mrs. Hoover owned and operated Furniture Liquidators in Sandusky for 20 years. Prior to this, she worked as a cook at Winesburg Inn in Clyde for several years. She was a member of North Pointe Baptist Church, Sandusky.
Laura is survived by her husband of 23 years, James Hoover Sr. of Sandusky; sons, Charles (Jennifer) Shultz and James Hoover Jr., both of Sandusky; daughters, Amy (John) Stamm and Jennifer Hoover, both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Kennadi and Kaleb Shultz, Kayden Knueve and Kylie Crow, all of Sandusky; mother, Dorothy Barcus of Sandusky; sister, Patricia (Dan) Artino of Huron; and brothers, Paul (Janet) Barcus of Port Clinton, Lloyd Barcus of Norwalk, Richard (Molly) Barcus of Sandusky and Josh Barcus of Sandusky.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Barcus; and maternal grandmother, Edith Porter.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Thursday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in North Pointe Baptist Church, 2611 Campbell St., Sandusky, conducted by Pastor Wally Gilbert. Entombment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
