Edith E. Roth, 83, of Sandusky, died Friday afternoon, July 4, 2008, in Erie County Care Facility following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of the late Carl and Margrethe (Olsen) Jensen. She was a 1943 graduate of Sandusky High School, and worked for Busch & Theim and the former York Steakhouse. She retired from Perkins Schools, where she had been a cook in the high school cafeteria.
Edith enjoyed reading, playing pinochle, and bowling.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Joel Lucal, Susan and Mark Schlottag and Charlotte and Mark Kusser, all of Sandusky; grandchildren, Betsy Lucal, Amy (Richard) Simmons, James Lucal and Samantha, Michael and Nicholas Kusser; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Quinn Zhanai, Benjamin and Matthew Lucal and Madeline and Zoe Simmons; sister, Sally Fries of Sandusky; and brother, Carl (Marge) Jensen Jr. of Bellevue.
Her husband, James W. Roth, who died in 1965; her parents; sister, Elinor Krisher; and brother, Robert Jensen, preceded her in death.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oakland Cemetery; Stein Hospice Chaplain Darrell Gant will officiate.
