Michael R. Tesmer, 60, residing in Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center's main campus.
He was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Norwalk and graduated from St. Paul High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Norwalk VFW Post 2743, American Legion Post 41 and Norwalk Moose Lodge 1248. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He worked for many years for the city of Norwalk as a police officer, paramedic and at the Norwalk water treatment plant until 2003.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanja (Michael) Cogan of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; sister, Sandra (Leonard) Foster of Norwalk; two grandsons, Alex and Thomas, and a granddaughter, Brooke.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Tesmer; parents, Robert and Rosemarie Tesmer; and sister, Sharon Boose. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion in Norwalk. Private interment will be at Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery in Sandusky.
