Lynn "Bear" Walton, 65, of Milan, died Sunday morning, June 29, 2008, in New Life Hospice in Lorain.
He was born Sept. 26, 1942, in Sandusky. He was raised in Wakeman and had lived in Milan for more than 20 years. He was a 1960 graduate of Western Reserve High School. He worked as an umpire all over Ohio for the American Softball Association for almost 40 years and kept score for Norwalk Parks and Recreation Winter Basketball. He worked at Tenneco for 48 years, retiring this year.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Hart) Walton; his daughter, Kimberly Stutsman of Sandusky; one grandson, Michael Bishop of Sandusky; two sisters, Diane Mendlik of Elyria and Sue Calkins of Milan; his stepfather, James Currier of Kipton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gertrude (Hurst) Walton; and two sisters, Frances Markwood and Gail Beal.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Tuesday in Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper St., Wakeman, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
