Francis A. Ruffing, 78, of Monroeville, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, June 24, 2008, in Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
He was born March 21, 1930 in Bismarck, Ohio, and was a 1948 graduate of Willard High School. Francis was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed for many years at Capital Aluminum, Bellevue, retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, St. John Neuman Chapter 1117 of Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Evelyn A. Adelman; five children, Eileen Ruffing of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Sister Joella Marie Ruffing, S.N.D. of Charleston, S.C., Donna (Brian) Loux of Powell, Ohio, Anthony (Mary) Ruffing of Monroeville and Andrew (Barbara) Ruffing of Centennial, Colo.; eight grandchildren; brother, John (Marie) Ruffing of Norwalk; two sisters, Helen Hackathorn and Magdeline (David) Roth, both of Norwalk; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Olivia (Wise) Ruffing; and sister, Cecelia Ruffing.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday in Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville, where a Christian Wake Service will be at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville; the Rev. Kenneth J. Lill will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
