Evelyn M. "Lyn" Bennett, 81, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 24, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Sandusky, Jan. 1, 1927, and was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a retired bookkeeper having worked throughout the years at Apex, Gail's Dress Shop, Russell Trucking Co. and later at Kristen's Dress Shop.
She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and enjoyed cake decorating, crocheting, and traveling to see her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Anne Bennett of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Donna (Steve) Olbrysh of Mentor, Ohio; son, David Allen Bennett of Olean, N.Y.; granddaughter, Jennifer Kay Wardle of Dubuque, Iowa; grandson, Adam David Bennett of Olean; two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Grace Wardle; sister, Miriam Hemminger of Sandusky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. "Howie" Bennett (2002); daughter, Margaret Rose Bennett (1948); parents, Willard and Genevieve (Denning) Ringholz; sister, Paula Cammalleri; and son-in-law, Douglas Donkin.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Kenneth Lill will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
