Austin E. "Doc" Waldock, 84, of Sandusky, died Friday morning, June 20, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 11, 1923, in Sandusky. He was a 1942 graduate of Sandusky High School where he was an outstanding member of the track team and held several records. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Casablanca in the Pacific Theater. He worked 10 years at Waldock Packing Company and 32 years at Sandusky Dressed Beef, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church, V.F.W., American Legion, Elks Club, Fireland's Stock Club, and United Commercial Travelers. He enjoyed gardening including vegetables and roses. He was an avid hunter and raised dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Marie "Kay" (Flynn) Waldock; daughter, Susan (Duane) K. Galloway of Sandusky; son, Timothy Lee (Mary Jo) Waldock of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren, Laura, Dan, Sean, Kelly and Katie; and brother, James Waldock of Attica, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Sean Galloway; parents, Lee Alfred and Ethyl Mae (Moyer) Waldock; and sister, Iris Kautz.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Sand Hill Methodist Church; the Rev. Eric Martin officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Sandusky.
